Beach House
Teen Dream
(Sub Pop)
Anytime both of the first two albums from a band make Pitchfork Media's Best Albums list, there are sure to be high expectations with the third release. Beach House, with its origins in Baltimore, have met that challenge and delivered another great indie-pop disc, Teen Dream.
Beach House features Victoria Legrand on vocals and organ, and Alex Scally and guitar and keyboards. Teen Dream is the duo's first album on Sub Pop Records. If you have not had an opportunity to hear this band's work yet, this album is a great start!
Teen Dream features ten tracks of ethereal, moody dream pop. Legrand has put on a dazzling display with her vocal delivery on this disc, drawing the listener in with her soothing, emotional crooning. The guitars at times bring back memories of some of Mazzy Star's work, with the work on both keyboards and organ the driving force behind each song.
Beach House received rave reviews for their past two albums. Teen Dream has all the characteristics to take things to the next level for this duo. Check out the eighth track on the album, "10 Mile Stereo", a stunning song that builds and builds to an explosive climax. This song alone makes this disc a tremendous find.
The LP and CD versions of Teen Dream come with a DVD that features a video for each song on the album. In addition, the vinyl version comes with a digital download. This is a great package the band has provided for their fans. Pick up your copy of Teen Dream from Beach House today!
